Wednesday, July 6, 2011

PENTWATER — Pentwater Police Chief Laude Hartrum was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Spectrum Health Care Center in Grand Rapids after being struck by a pick-up truck while directing traffic following the Pentwater fireworks display late Sunday night.

Oceana County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Craig Mast said Hartrum under went surgery Monday to repair a broken pelvis. Hartrum was treated at the scene by Pentwater Fire and Rescue along with Oceana EMS. Hartrum was first taken to Memorial Medical Center in Ludington for treatment, then transferred to Spectrum via ambulance instead of AeroMed helicopter due to weather conditions, Mast said.
